Dec. 4

Hello all!

December is upon us!  We have a very busy three weeks ahead of us!

Students have been working on their Kringle Kronicles.  They have chosen Christmas/winter songs and they have turned them into news articles.  These are due Friday, Dec. 6th.

At the beginning of the year, students were to set goals in Health pertaining to their diet and physical activity.  They have been doing “updates” every month to keep track of how they are doing.  They should have handed in their November update and are now working on the “December Plan”.  December plan is due on Thursday, Dec. 5th.

We were very lucky to attend Sheldon William’s presentation of “Shrek the Musical” yesterday.  I think we all had a great time.

Upcoming events in the next few weeks:

  • Look for a letter coming home about our class meal (pot-luck) on December 19th.  Each student will be responsible for a dish.  They will need to prepare enough for about 10-12 people.  Thank you in advance for your support in this event.
  • On Dec. 17th, we are having our class party.  We will be sledding in the afternoon (just in case it has to warm up), and we will be having a gift exchange in the morning.  Students will be drawing names.  Limit is $10-$15 per gift…
  • Thursday, December 12th is our “Polar Express Winter Carnival”.
  • Current Events are due on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20
  • Book Report is due Dec. 20
  • French Book Report has been changed to an interpretation of a French/Francophone song by a Francophone artist for December.
  • Dictees are on Fridays — Dec. 6, 13 and 20th.

Thank you for your continued support!

Hello!  Hello!

We are quickly approaching the end of our second month of school.  We have had a busy couple of months and it is only going to get busier.

Conferences are scheduled for Nov. 1.  If you cannot make your conference, please email me and we can set up an alternate time or an alternate day.  Please bring your child to conferences.  We will be going over the goals that they set and show you their achievements!  I will have a mini-report card for you as well.

New due dates:

  • Current Events (in French) – Oct. 31; Nov. 12; Nov. 28; Dec. 13; Dec. 20
  • Rapport du livre and Book Report – Nov. 29 – Students are required to write a book report in both English and French.  They will be required to present the French book report from the point of view of one of the characters.
  • Outsiders Novel Study – Portfolio, questions, all assignments due on Nov. 7.  We are watching the movie on Nov. 12.  We are finishing off the novel study with a “rumble” on Nov. 15.

Our first “Homework Hot Box” went extremely well.  Students with missing assignments were required to go to the library and work until their assignments were completed.  Next “Homework Hot Box” is scheduled for next week.  Again, students with missing work will be required to attend.

Dec. 3 — We are walking over to Sheldon to attend their presentation of “Shrek the Musical”.  Students will require a lunch that day.

Have a great day!

Hello Parents!

I hope you are finding ways to keep yourself cool on this hot day!

Please remember to fill out all forms and return them to school for tomorrow.

Thank you to all who have brought their forms and $2.50 for agendas.

Health — Action plan for Friday

Social — maps for Monday

French — If your child has a French dictionary at home, please bring to school.  We are doing much work with words and verbs.  The ideal situation would be to have a dictionary and a Bescherelle (verbe dictionary) per student.  If you are able to have these at school for Monday, that would be ideal.

Remind101 — please remember to sign up to receive reminders for your student!

Have a great evening!
